The Farming Activities section of the Company Settings will help you design your coding structure tailored to your business.

You will be presented with a list of suggested farming activities – as you tick one section it will expand to offer more detail so you select the level of detail that you want. For example you may be happy to just specify crops or go to the level of cereals down to the level of wheat.

Tick each activity that you feels applies to this business and Farmplan Business Cloud will build an appropriate set of accounts for you so that are ready to go.

You will able to see the categories that have been created for you under the option Categories. Don’t forget to set the filter to show all categories with zero balances.

What if I forget to tick an activity or I start another activity?

Just come back to Company – Farming Activities and tick it at a later date.

What if have ticked an activity by mistake?

Come back to Company – Farming Activities and take the tick out. Any unused categories will be removed. Remember if they have been renumbered or edited they will not be removed automatically but they can still be deleted individually.

What about activities that are not covered in here?

Categories can be added from scratch in the Categories option or added on the fly when you are entering transactions.

Alternatively you could pick something similar (for example if you have goats, select sheep instead) but rename the categories that need a tweak in the Categories option.

Take care that you allocate a number that will slot them into a logical area of the category list.

I do not like the name of a category?

They can be renamed in the Categories option.

I want to remove a category that is not needed?

Most categories can be removed using the red dustbin in the Categories screen provided they have not been used. If they have been used then mark them as Inactive. NB there are some that are system/reserved codes that cannot be removed even if they have not been used but they can be marked as inactive.

The categories are in the wrong order

If you want to rearrange the order of the categories then they can be renumbered. If you think they are in the wrong classification you will need to change the type as well.

The total range of categories are split into:

I think an overhead should be a direct (variable) cost, or vice versa

Edit the category to add or remove the Direct Cost tick.
